" From the moment of my first enquiry, Julie Dove was warm, welcoming and helpful. As to this delightful cottage, I fell in love with it immediately. You can guarantee to feel totally "at home". Internally the character and atmosphere is delightful. I found the cottage clean and tastefully decorated to a very good standard. Also provided is a lovely range cooker, barbeque, patio and garden furniture. I even managed to get the nearest Asda to deliver a home shop delivery, for which I was very impressed.
To add credit the cottage is located in an area of outstanding beauty, it's quiet with breathtaking views within a few minutes walk with internet provided. The sea can be seen from the patio door. Excellently positioned for coastal and Snowdonia National Park walks of varying degrees. The bookcase contains a few very good guides and routes. Also very close to Hells Mouth, Port Ysgo, Aberdaron, Abersoch and spoilt for choice of many lovely quality beaches. We visited many places because there are stacks of activities to do, all within a short drive away if you are not particularly interested in the sea. There are boat trips to nearby Bardsey Island with the opportunity to see dolphins, seals, birds and maybe the odd whale. The kids can be entertained with action activities at nearby Glasfryn Parc, including Go Karting, Quad biking Archery, Wakeboarding , Archery and Surfing and Fishing. On researching there's also rock-climbing, white water rafting, horse-riding as well as other numerous activities for the adventurous, all within a short distance by car. We also visited Portmeirion (a beautiful Italian styled village on the slopes to the beach where The Prisoner series was filmed).
Nia and Brett, the self-sufficient farming neighbours and caretakers to the cottage are welcoming and helpful. Brett booked my family a table at Aberdaron for a carvery the Sunday lunchtime at the delightful restaurant with a balcony on the beach. He invited my teenage sons to join him in some of the farming and fishing he does.
The Cottage can be a little difficult to locate if you've never been there before so the following map reference is taken from the Ordnance Survey Explorer Map (Orange) No. 253: - SH 227 281 (where the 1 is marginally too high, perhaps should be 0.5) if being a perfectionist. The gate entrance to the cottage is just around the corner from the fork bend in the road.
I most certainly would love to go back to the cottage as it was disappointing having to leave it”

“Hi,
Have got back from our holiday. We had an amazing weekend - the weather was very kind to us. We loved the cottage, the views and the area! We had some great walks - lovely and peacefull! We had a nice meal in the Ty Newydd overlooking the sea. We had fish and chips one evening in Aberdaron and ate them on the beach at Whistling Sands - lovely. We went around Plas yn Rhiw one morning - that was nice it is a gorgeous house with stunning views. On the way home we stopped at Portmerion for our lunch. That was a nice end to our short break- we felt we had been away for a week! Thank you very much for letting us stay at your cottage.”

“Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time at Pwll Melyn. What a fantastic little cottage in amazing surroundings. We didn’t really know what to expect but were totally blown away with it when we arrived. Everything was clean and tidy and it was so well equipped. The two shower/bathrooms were perfect for two families sharing.
This has to be one of the nicest places we have ever been and I would most definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to get away in North Wales.
Booking was so simple and the arrangement with the key just about sums up the whole relaxed atmosphere. I really cant praise that little cottage enough and we are already thinking of booking for a week sometime.
A big `THANK YOU` and we hope to be booking with you again soon.“

“Hi Julie,
Just a short message to tell you what a great break my family and I had at your cottage during Easter. We liked the cottage as soon as we arrived and became more attached to it the longer we stayed. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was supplied and there are some really nice details all the way through the house. Rhiw turned out to be a great base for exploring what is a spectacular part of Wales. We are all now trying to figure out when we can visit again.”

“Dear Julie,
We loved the cottage and when the mist lifted we enjoyed the fabulous views. The walk down to the headland with it's stunning scenery was a favourite evening walk - especially when Katie discovered the group of ponies wandering about. l will recommend Pwll Melyn to friends.”
